Ashley Furniture Donates Over $2 Million Toward Hurricane Harvey and Irma Relief Efforts
Hurricane Harvey was a Category 4 storm that hit Texas in August 2017. It caused almost $200 billion in damages, that’s more than any other natural disaster in U.S history. But we can’t forget Hurricane Katrina and the damage it caused, which is still more than Harvey. Harvey affected 13 million people from Texas through Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and Kentucky and killed nearly 90 people. Houston suffered the most damage. It forces nearly 40,000 people from their homes, which led to mega-shelters to be formed.


It wasn’t but less than a week when Hurricane Irma made came following behind. Irma affected at least nine US states, including a group of small Caribbean islands. The eye of the hurricane passed over Barbuda, damaging about 95% of the buildings on the island. The massive storm triggered evacuation orders for 5.6 million people before it made two landfalls. Irma's landfall in Florida and Harvey's in Texas make 2017 the first year on record that the US has been impacted by two Category 4 or stronger hurricanes in the same year.

Helping Those in a Time of Need
